I absolutely love my students’ creativity, curiosity, and passion for hands-on learning. They are a diverse group of middle schoolers who thrive when given opportunities to explore, experiment, and express themselves in meaningful ways. They constantly amaze me with their ability to think outside the box and their eagerness to tackle real-world problems.
This project will allow my students to combine science, sustainability, and art in a truly unique way.
We’ve already built a thriving hydroponics system where they’ve learned about plant growth, water conservation, and sustainable agriculture. Now, we want to take it further by using the plants they’ve grown to create resin-infused artwork like jewelry, coasters, and chopping boards. These pieces will not only showcase their creativity but also serve as conversation starters about the importance of sustainable practices.
The art supplies we’re requesting—resin kits, molds, and pigments—will give my students the tools they need to bring their vision to life. Through this project, they’ll learn practical skills like designing and crafting with resin. More importantly, they’ll develop a deeper understanding of how art can be used as a powerful tool for advocacy and awareness.
My goal is for my students to see themselves as change-makers who can use their talents to impact their community positively. By blending hydroponics with craftivism, they’ll learn that science and art are not separate but interconnected disciplines that can work together to inspire change.
What makes my students special is their boundless enthusiasm for learning and their desire to make a difference. They care deeply about the environment and are eager to share what they’ve learned with others.
