Crafting Our History: Empowering Students with Creative Tools

My Project
Our high school history club is full of curious, passionate, and motivated students who love diving deep into the past. My students take history beyond the classroom — participating in the Field of Flags campaign for Disabled American Veterans, preserving community stories, such as our school's 100th birthday, and going on historical field trips, such as the National Civil Rights Museum. They are driven not just by grades but by a genuine love for learning about history and service to their community and nation.
We are requesting a Cricut Explore 4, a heat press, and vinyl so our history club can design and produce custom shirts, stickers, tote bags, and display materials for use in school events, community outreach, and club fundraisers.
With these tools, students will design and create club merchandise to sell and fund future activities,
produce custom decor and signage for school-wide history events (like Veterans Day, Holocaust Remembrance Day, Constitution Day), gain experience with digital design, branding, and small-scale entrepreneurship, and
build teamwork, leadership, and real-world skills while celebrating history in fun, creative ways.
Many of my students come from rural or low-income backgrounds, and every dollar raised through club fundraisers helps make field trips, history competitions, enrichment activities, and legacy scholarships possible. These tools will give them a creative outlet and a sustainable way to support themselves and their club.
