it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The Arts have a soothing effect on students. I often find that art therapy plays a role in children learning how to interpret the world around them. It helps them go on a journey of self-discovery. The process of creating something with your very own hands also fills me with joy. It takes kids away from screens and from toxic environments (maybe their home life is not that pleasant, or they might be struggling in a class or two). They can come to the art room to melt away all of that stress and anxiety, and for at least those few minutes, they can clear their minds, keep their hands busy, and enter into a state of relaxation. I think having crafting kits and crochet kits will help students work independently. It will help them learn to think creatively.
