Crafting History, Fueling Minds: Empowering Scholars With Comfort and Creativity!

My Project

Our sixth-grade classroom is not only a space for learning, but a hub of creativity where students are actively engaged in bringing history to life. Through hands-on projects, we delve into ancient civilizations, using materials like clay to build tombs, temples, and even recreate ziggurats from Mesopotamia. These projects help students connect with history in a personal and meaningful way, giving them a chance to explore and create while deepening their understanding of complex historical topics.

What makes this classroom even more special is that our students, though still in elementary school, experience a middle school environment by switching classes daily.

This helps prepare them for the transition ahead, fostering independence and adaptability. Many of these exceptional students also have parents who serve in the U.S. military, bringing a unique level of resilience and strength to our classroom community.

As a former homeschool mom with eight years of experience, I am dedicated to creating as many hands-on projects as possible, playing to one of my greatest strengths—helping students learn by doing. The flexibility to work creatively, combined with comfortable seating and brain-boosting snacks, ensures that students are not only mentally engaged but also physically comfortable and energized for the day’s lessons.

With these resources, we can continue to fuel our students’ love of learning, empowering them to explore the ancient world in ways that spark curiosity and foster a lifelong passion for history.
