My Project
For this project, I hope to provide my students with a hands-on experience in their digital arts class! We are going to provide t-shirts, embroidery hoops, sewing scissors, pins, thread, and all the basics, plus printable fabric sheets that will allow students to create designs in Photoshop, then print them out! Ultimately, we will then adhere these printed fabric designs onto t-shirts or hoodies, then embellish them with hand-stitched embroidery.
These students have taken Media Arts for multiple years, and this project will help them create an incredible piece of art that they can take with them, memorializing their efforts in an innovative and exciting way!
Students will be encouraged to create a textile that encorporates their past artwork from the last several years of classes, but being able to hand-stitch these pieces together will give their work new life and energy and creativity that they haven't had a chance to visit in a while. This art of sewing and embroidering is also such a fun change from our typical media of Photoshop, digital drawing, and photography that students are already well-versed in.
