This fall, I am stepping into a brand new chapter (literally and figuratively) as a high school campus librarian. After years of teaching English, I am excited to reimagine what a library can be for students. I will be working with three schools. My goal is to cultivate a space where all students feel inspired to try new things. The library is the perfect place to make this happen.
I want to create a mini makerspace/arts & crafts center right in our school library with fun, hands-on activities that will make it a place where learning feels exciting and personal.
With your help, I am hoping to offer my campus sewing machine accessories, such as a carrying case, foot pedal, mat, adapter, and colorful thread. These materials will allow us to begin light sewing activities in the future and store everything safely and accessibly. My students will also make connections with their peers as they work on group sewing projects.
I am determined to create a space where students feel like they belong. These materials will help me build a strong foundation as I develop new programming and will help students look forward to coming to the library, not just for books, but for community.
