My Students

I have a very inquisitive group of high school students who have formed a science/computer/coding club and they have grand plans to build a review competition game for all classes to use, a solar charging station for phones and computers in the school courtyard and a scoreboard for the multipurpose/gym room. My students come from very diverse backgrounds, but all of them are motivated to be ready to go to work after high school.

I am so excited they have planned several projects to improve their school for everyone, not just themselves.

Their computer/coding knowledge ranges from novice to well informed yet they all are willing to learn how-to build and code together. We meet every other Friday for 90 minutes yet most of them are in my classroom anytime they can get there to ask questions and propose ideas. I

have little hands on for them now, we have looked at things virtually and tore apart some old technology. They are eager to get some real technology to learn with.

My Project

My students want to become skilled Information Technologists and Programmers. They need to experience hands on opportunities to to construct and program computers to complete various tasks. The Aurduino and Raspberry Pi kits will provide my student with design, construct and coding opportunities to solve real problems.

Coding builds soft skills such as organization, resilience, communication and focus, necessary skills employers are looking for.

Our students are working hard to build their portfolios with evidence of their abilities to be successful employees in the field of their choice. Having Aurduino and Raspberry Pi kits to practice and learn from will help my students prepare for building the projects they want to build for their school. I will design design, build and coding challenges that will be necessary when they start building the scoreboard system, solar charging station and "Quiz Bowl" review system for school.
