What I love most about my students is how real and resilient they are. I teach 9th and 10th-grade resource English, and many of my students are working below grade level or have dyslexia. Reading isn’t easy for them, but they keep showing up and trying anyway. That kind of trust and effort means the world to me. My classroom is a safe and fun space where students can be themselves, and I want to give them books that reflect who they are and tools that make learning feel doable and engaging. These resources will help me meet them where they are and move them forward, one page at a time.
This project will help my students move from dreading reading to discovering that it can be powerful, personal, and even enjoyable.
My goal is to build a classroom library that feels welcoming, accessible, and full of books my students want to read. I’ve paid attention to the stories that light them up, and I’ve asked them what they want more of, and these books reflect their voices and interests.
Along with the books, I’ve included creative teaching tools and classroom supplies to help me design lessons that are more interactive, accessible, and engaging for all kinds of learners. These materials could be what helps my students stop seeing reading as a struggle and start seeing it as a step toward their future.
