This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Reading is a life-long skill for every learner. As a reading intervention teacher, I get to work with students who have difficulty "cracking the code of reading." Over 80% of our students speak Spanish as their first language which makes learning to read even more troublesome. The students in my reading groups have not been able to learn to read at the same pace as their grade level peers. They require additional support through research-based reading intervention programs such as S.P.I.R.E
With the use of the reading intervention S.P.I.R.E., I would be able to reach some of my students who have lost the confidence and desire to become readers.
S.P.I.R.E. is a teacher-led 10-step program that walks students through every stage of reading development.
Reading opens the door to so many learning adventures. I want to open that door for my students as soon as possible. The love of reading awaits them!
