CPS students Programming with Calculators as a Gateway to Coding

Help me give my students the ability to learn Computer Science with simple input/output commands! Math teacher teaching Computer Science this year, and my students will need a boost! The calculators work well with the rover.

My Project

Chicago Public Schools is in the midst of a Math and Computer Science Teacher shortage. In its stead, many teachers from other subjects are learning the Exploring Computer Science curriculum to help teach students about Comp Sci.

Students at Crane Medical Prep were excited to use these calculators and rovers when the University of Michigan came to visit, so allowing our students to have more access to this resource will be a powerful tool for them.

By showing them a way of programming using Math-based skills, the topics of inputs and outputs for coding will go a long way towards comprehension of Comp Sci Materials.

Students at Crane Medical Prep come from Chicago's South and West sides primarily. Typically underrepresented and underserved, these students do not always have the same learning tools as other students. Please help Crane in helping to bridge the equity gap in education.
