I work in a first-grade classroom in the Northeast section of Philadelphia. Many of the students come from low-income families and seek comfort and belonging within the classroom walls. The students strive to do their best each and every day while accomplishing the goals set forth for each individual student.
The students are the future of our society and ready to learn on a daily basis.
The students come from supportive families, who also strive to do their best each day in order to become the best version of themselves.
My Project
My students will be returning to in-person learning after a year and a half. I want to create a welcoming environment that is filled with exciting places to cozy up with a good book and read. The table will support my guided reading lessons as I work with a smaller group of students to help individual needs be met. The carpet is going to offer a relaxing space for students to gather and read independently or listen to a read-aloud each day. Creating a comfortable space for students to learn is key to an effective education!
