My Students
My students attend a small school in West Virginia. We are a Title I school and are located in a low socioeconomic town. Our students walk through the door every day eager to learn and willing to embrace new experiences.
Technology has become a focus of our school, with the hope of opening a world of opportunities for our students.
Many come from broken homes and the drug epidemic is high in our area, but our students are continually trying to rise above. They are filled with passion and hope. Our motto is to believe in ourselves, and with that belief, anything is possible.
Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Our staff and our students work hard to make that a reality.
My Project
Our classroom is transitioning to flexible seating this upcoming year. With this, we need a comfortable way to sit in our reading area while continuing to do our work. This rug will allow the students to sit comfortably on the floor and work on projects in small groups or individually.
Students tend to learn best in an environment they are comfortable in, and these materials will help achieve that comfort.
Our classroom is all about movement and working in areas around the room that suit the students needs. We currently do not have a rug or any carpeted areas in our room. It is my hope that this new rug and the clipboards with provide yet another learning spot in our room.
