My Project
As a first-year Kindergarten teacher entering a small, shared bungalow classroom after the Altadena fires, I want to make every inch of space count. A classroom rug will serve as a central meeting place where my students can gather each day for lessons, stories, and social-emotional learning.
The rug will help keep our classroom organized by giving students individual spots to sit using colored squares—supporting visual learning, personal space awareness, and group management.
It will also allow me to group students by color for differentiated instruction and provide a safe, consistent, and engaging space that feels like home in a limited environment.
This rug will be more than just a place to sit—it will be where our classroom community comes together.
