This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As I continue to build out my classroom library (thank you to the donors of my last project), I am trying to cultivate as comfortable and inviting a space as possible for my students.
Taking after their teacher, my students place a premium on Hygge— a Danish word that roughly translates to coziness.
While students already love to occupy the nook during silent reading and independent work time, the smattering of hand pillows we have leaves something to be desired.
The requested bean bags would provide another enticement for students to spend time in our growing library, and students could gain access to the seats as a reward for social leadership and academic achievement. The inevitable student demand for that slice of classroom real estate would create a strong incentive for students to produce exemplary work and to embody our classroom values of kindess, empathy and respect.
