My Students

My school is an all girls school on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Though the school is on the Lower East Side, my students hail from the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and even NJ. Most students are living in low-income housing projects and receive free or reduced lunch. Many of them travel over an hour to attend a quality public school in New York City.

My students come to school each day eager to learn in a loving, safe, and exciting environment.

They strive to show our school's core values of Sisterhood, Responsibility, Merit, and Scholarship, and it is our hope that we are preparing them to move onto middle-school, high school, and eventually graduate from college!

My Project

Do you want to help to instill a lifelong love of reading and a passion for books in children? Well, it's one of the reasons that I went into teaching!

And now 5 years later, I am amazed at how excited my students are when we learn about new authors or when I have new books to add to our library.

You could be a part of that excitement! With your generous donation, my students will enjoy reading in a comfy, cozy reading nook in our classroom. We have an incredible reading space but it has no furniture. Unfortunately, my students do not always have a quiet, comfortable spot to read at home. I would love to create a reading nook in my classroom so that they will be more motivated to read. My students need some new comfy bean bag chairs and reading pillows for their new reading nook! These items will help to make class reading more fun and make students look forward to opening a book in such a neat environment.
