Cozy in Preschool

Help me give my students cozy places throughout the room to read and relax. Preschool can be a noisy, busy place, and our littles enjoy cozy and comfy nooks to relax and recharge!

My Project

My preschoolers are ages 3-5. They have lived most of their short lives in a pandemic that has affected their opportunities for social development. As children return to the classroom or come to the classroom for the first time, the busy and noisy atmosphere can be overwhelming. Having plenty of places in the classroom where they can go to calm down, relax, or spend a special moment with a friend helps them to learn important regulation skills. Social-Emotional development has been greatly impacted during covid-related restrictions.

Having these cozy areas in the classroom will help develop skills in key developmental objectives.

Such objectives include managing emotions (teachers can help children learn how to utilize safe places within the classroom to practice breathing and calming techniques), making friends (cozy areas structured to support one to two children are great places to develop friendship skills and empathy), and early literacy skills such as enjoying books (children enjoy pretending to read to themselves, to other children, or to dolls in comfy, quiet areas of the classroom)
