My Project
Our school library is entering a new era! As the new Librarian, I hope to keep the library a cozy, welcoming, warm place to read, hang out, socialize, and relax. In order to do so, we need some new furniture! Students love to visit the library before school and during lunches to meet with friends and enjoy hobbies. During these times, the library becomes a center for social-emotional learning and development.
It is important that students view the library as a place - a center for community - as well as a resource for reading.
Having comfortable seating communicates that our students can come to the library as they are. I want students to know that I value their happiness and comfortability. After all, we want our students to WANT to come to the library! Creating relaxing reading nooks and social areas is an important step in achieving my goal of making our library a center for learning and learners of all kinds.
