Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach one of the most motivated, inspiring and eager to learn first graders in one of the city’s poorest neighborhoods in New York. Most of the students live in shelters and some who don’t speak English at home. However, what I love most about my students, it’s inspite of the challenges they enjoy reading.
We would like to create a cozy classroom library space in our classroom.
This will help the students to feel relax as they read their favorite books.
Please help these book lovers to create an environment that is conducive to their interest!
My Project
The cozy class library space will help promote a love of reading and open the doors of conversation about the world they live in. Libraries are often known to have a deep sensory connection to people – I want to incorporate all the senses into our library. I want the children to hear each other reading aloud, and often, having loving conversations, and, if they want to have quiet time listening to books on CD's.
The rug and beanbags will create a homely setting for the children, while the other pillows will attract more readers to the area.
