The students I teach come from an area that, over the years has been a high poverty, high crime area. It is my goal to change that stigma and help give them the best of every opportunity that I can whether it be by providing basics, or new opportunities.
The students I teach are eager to learn, and soak up new information like sponges.
All 20 of them keep me on my toes at all parts of the day. I wouldn't trade my time with them for anything! They are busy and active learners, and this project will help them be more active in a strategic way while increasing brain function at the same time.
My Project
Having a new reading carpet to help spruce up a reading or working environment will be motivating for students to work at. I have often found that few students prefer working at a desk or table, so I would like to provide more cozy areas in my room where they will be comfortable and desire to work. Having soft soothing lights also makes an area feel more welcoming.
I would also like to put a cafe table in my room where students can sit higher up, or where I can use as a conferencing area to review work.
This table will go great with stools and will be another added option for flexible seating in my room. I have learned that over the years my students desire to work in an area that is visually appealing, and what they consider to be fun. These items will help add this to our environment!
