Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My NYC public school students live in a neighborhood which contains NYC's largest low income housing community. In their day-to-day lives, some can see a lot of ugliness, and the majority of them find school a safe way to escape that.
As their technology teacher, I recognize my students as smart, creative individuals who have the potential to shatter the "kid from the projects" stereotype.
They can move on and become well-educated productive members of society. My goal is for them to be able to have choices which they never thought were possible.
My Project
We need a new classroom rug for our computer lab that can seat every student in the class! The classroom carpet is the place where all of our instruction takes place. Whether we're learning how to conduct research about Native Americans or editing a video in iMovie, students gather on the rug in our meeting area. The rug is also the place in the classroom that some students work in groups to plan their projects.
Please help complete our computer lab for my preK- Grade 5 students by creating the perfect meeting area!
A new, colorful classroom carpet would brighten up the room and provide "a place for everyone" year after year!
