I teach an amazing group of third grade students in a suburban school in Washington state.
These children love to read outside the classroom. When it comes to reading at school . . . not so much. Why? Students say it best when you ask, and they reply, "There is nowhere comfortable! Everything is so HARD in here, and it hurts to read that way!"
My Project
The students take the initiative to read every day. They can't get enough of it! But when the classroom supplies are uncomfortable, and a student's duration to read is drastically shortened due to discomfort, something HAS to change. Students will use these pillows and chairs every day in our reader's workshop to broaden their literary horizons and quench that thirst for the next great book to read.
Students need to feel comfortable in their environment in order to get the most from their education. Your donation will increase the comfort level in our classroom tenfold and encourage the continued zest for reading!
I can't wait to see the excitement in my students' eyes when these bright, comfortable supplies arrive.
I won't be able to stop them from reading all day long! My students have the love for reading mastered, now it is up to you to help continue that love by providing a comfortable reading environment. Because of donors like you, my students will learn to love reading more and more each day.
