Cozy Carpet Encourages Collaboration and Respect for Individual Space

My students need a colorful and inviting area rug where they can sit comfortably as a large group to learn and collaborate with their peers and teacher.

My Students

My first graders are diverse, full of energy, and excited about school! We have a bright, colorful, and engaging room and we look forward to learning and growing as a community each and every day! They are thoughtful and kind to one another and truly enjoyable to teach!

My wiggly scholars need to move around a lot during the day, and different learning areas and seating are a must for them!

Morning Meetings, Calendar Math, sharing, and stories happen whole group on the floor. Currently we squeeze together in an empty spot and do our best to respect each other's space.

My Project

It would be great to have a carpet that not only adds color and comfort to the classroom, but teaches and shows the children how to respect each other's personal space.

Students love having their individual spots where they know they all have a specific place to learn and grow.

With the amount of time spent transitioning from one place to another, this carpet with color squares for each student, will give them a visual indication of where they need to be in a more timely and less disturbing manner.

This carpet will organize our Morning Meeting, whole group, and story space by providing specific places for students to sit without disturbing one another. It will also give them a new vibrant learning space!
