Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The items in this project would be used to create a calming space within the classroom for students to use as needed for emotional regulation. My students would have access to this curated space within our room whenever they need it. Examples of when the students would need this are when they are feeling angry, anxious, sad, missing home, or frustrated.

This space would provide signage with photos of real children for reference, books, fidget toys, a yoga mat for stretching, a bean bag to sit on, stress balls, and a weighted stuffed animal.

We all need breaks throughout our day children are no different, these materials in a designated space provide just the right tools to help students become more mindful and learn appropriate/healthy coping mechanisms for when their feelings get a little too big to handle.
