My students have quite literally outgrown our current classroom rug! As 4th graders, they are growing physically and academically, and we need flexible spaces to support their learning. By adding a few more area rugs, we can create designated spaces for different subjects—one for math discussions, one for ELA activities, and one for social learning opportunities. These rugs will give students comfortable, inviting spaces to engage in small-group work, class meetings, and independent learning throughout the day.
My goal is to provide students with flexible learning spaces that encourage collaboration, focus, and engagement.
By having dedicated areas for different subjects, students can transition smoothly between lessons and feel a sense of ownership over their learning environment. These rugs will also foster a welcoming classroom atmosphere where students feel comfortable participating and sharing ideas.
My 4th graders are at a unique stage in their learning journey. They are growing and changing every day—not just in size, but in their independence, curiosity, and social-emotional development. They thrive in an environment that allows them to move, collaborate, and explore concepts in ways that suit their learning styles. Providing them with designated learning spaces will support their development and create a classroom where they feel valued and inspired.
