My students need shared classroom supplies (pencils, whiteboards, erasers), logic games, crafts, and classroom pizazz to re-ignite their fires until the end of the year!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A typical day in our classroom is quite atypical. First of all, our class does not take place in a classroom but in the library. 100 7th and 8th graders follow their personalized math learning plans, and to be honest, it's varied from clockwork to chaos (depending on the day).
Our students are spunky, creative, and persevering.
Our school is an arts-integrated, blended learning school and every grade level purposefully works to get students to take charge of their learning. Our community lies in the urban East Bay and most of its members live below poverty-level and are learning English as a second language.
Despite these environmental obstacles, my students, like I mentioned, are spunky, creative, and persevering! As we pilot this foreign program, despite the complaints, it's amazing to see these kids pull themselves back in and try their best daily.
My Project
The motley array of materials are simply to fill in the holes and needs for our students that I've noticed as each trimester passed. As students grow in responsibility, I want to expand their choice time and locations. I also want to make it feel cozier. The lapdesks and cushy cushions are to "cozify" our space and make it so that students could have the privilege of choosing a fun space for the day.
I also included logic games and origami so that students would have alternatives to video games during choice time. In addition, I am asking for stickers as fun incentives for students as they push on to meet their final goals.
Finally, as we are in the last trimester, we are also in the dregs of school supplies. The donation of blue tape, sticky poster paper and graph paper, pencils, baskets, and erasers will help organize our space and keep us fully supplied to continue with our inquiries until the end of the year.
This donation will improve my classroom atmosphere and hopefully remind students that there is a larger community out there that cares.
I think many times, we are skimping and trying to save money for areas that would "improve learning", but as a result, the joy and warm fuzzies can get lost. I think adding small things such as stickers, games, a cozy space, and of course, ample materials will contribute to their learning in ways that instruction can't!
