My Students

I have such a resilient group of kids this year. They are empowered with kindness, a great attitude, and perseverance through yet another difficult school year. They rock! They have also treated me with such kindness during my first year of teaching. Our school has really taken on the task of getting our first graders where they need to be in reading; during a pandemic, that can be especially hard. These resources will help make that experience better and more equitable for every student. As we learn about reading, each of these resources will be used to ensure that children understand and are capable of staying on grade level- or above- even with increased absences.

My Project

As a first-year teacher, I definitely did not think I would have to endure pandemic teaching! And yet, both my students and I have had to figure out lots of creative ways to learn this year. With many of my students who have never even been in school before, I am grateful for all the support and help our school and community have provided in closing those gaps. These additional resources will continue to help students find success during a time when absences are so heavy. I can send many of these resources home, and many can help fill gaps- particularly in literacy. And yet, some of these resources just help keep a clean classroom; something we can all appreciate right now!
