COVID Classroom Revitalization

Help me give my students the resources they need to gain back lost reading, math and SEL skills due to COVID-19.

My Project

Social-emotional learning is important! I want my students to grow up being empathetic, kind, strong human beings. To do this, I want to create a space that students can have access to books they can read. The bookshelf and reading texts will allow students to gain a better grasp of reading instead of randomly grabbing what they can see. When we read books such as The Magical Yet and The Bad Seed, I can have easy access to those stories. I will read books such as Viking in Love!, Sneakers the Seaside Cat and A Bad Case of Tattle Tongue and lead class discussions on making choices and understanding others. Students will also have the option to read the books on their own, which will also help develop important reading comprehension skills. Over time, I will add more SEL-inspired titles to the carts for all to enjoy. The SEL activities will also help students develop their emotional lexicon and better articulate their feelings. These children deserve the best and I would love the opportunity to give it to them!
