Covid Can't Stop Kinders

Help me give my students materials for the classroom that will allow me to individualize learning, materials that are easy to keep clean and sanitize and can be used individually.

My Students

I am privileged to be a second-year kindergarten teacher at a Title I school in Utah. My students are an amazing group of kindergarteners. Most of our students have never gone to preschool due to the Covid 19 pandemic and are lacking foundational skills. They desperately want to succeed, but the majority of my classroom parents work outside of the home, are struggling to make ends meet, and many are single parent families or raised by grandparents. It is often a struggle for exhausted guardians to read and do homework with their children after a long day. I am blessed to give them the best opportunity at becoming whatever they want to be by providing an environment that is positive, inspiring, where they want to learn and succeed but it has been difficult with students missing multiple weeks at a time due to Covid.

My Project

So many students are behind in their learning because of missing weeks of school due to Covid or missing preschool all together.

I have chosen supplies that are easy to clean, can be used individually for best practices and activities that will help my students fill the gaps in their learning, due to covid, in a fun and engaging way!

I have also chosen activities that can be sent home if need be to support guardians in their efforts to bridge the gap between home and school.

I need to fill in the gaps where overwhelmed parents can’t. I have considered every moment of my classrooms needs to account for best practices, visible learning, learning styles, and clear objectives.
