My Students

I teach kindergarten in the suburbs of Las Vegas. My students will be new to our school and for some of them this will be their very first experience in a school setting.

One thing about kindergarteners is that they are usually one of two things at the start of the school year: they are either so excited to be at school or somewhat fearful of the new experience.

I hope to help them learn to love school and grow their excitement for learning. This coming school year will be wonderful as I will get to be with my students in real life again!

My Project

During the first week of school adjusting to the new protocols for COVID-19 have presented some challenges. On top of new protocols, we are short staffed in our custodial department. Their equipment is under lock and key and I don't always have time to chase down the key holder to get the vacuum cleaner. Our floors are carpeted and when my little kinders cut, it gets pretty messy. We have tried various creative ways to pick up all the little bits but it just isn't enough! I would love a vacuum to keep in my room so I can vacuum daily and help keep the room clean for them. In addition, as 5 year olds do, they often lose their masks or break them. I could use a "stash" to help them stay healthy!
