Remember when you found a toy or book that you really liked and you used it all of the time? It wore out didn't it? The same thing happens with the visual supports my students use for daily activities such as communication, lunch choices, schedules, etc.
My students are in kindergarten through second grade and all have varying ability levels in each area of their lives.
Each child is unique in their own way, but they all need additional support to be successful in the school setting. These supports often come in the form of visuals that I make for them using printouts from the computer.
My Project
I have requestd a laminator and laminating pouches to make the visuals my students use daily more durable. The thicker style of the laminating makes it easier for my students to manipulate their visuals independently, enabling my students to use the created visuals on their own without having to depend on someone else.
Your donation will promote greater independence among my students and enable them to communicate more effectively and be involved in their education to a greater extent.
Having durable materials means the materials can move on with the students over longer periods of time and will make for easier transitions.
