Country Hen and Technology

My Project

As a first-year teacher I entered my new classroom with many outdated and broken supplies from previously used teachers. In addition, I am servicing a demographic of low-income families that have been impacted greatly by the COVID-19 shutdown.

My 2nd-grade students are coming into my classroom lacking real-life experiences that connect them to nature as well as technology.

I am hoping to provide my classroom with updated supplies to better service my students so that they can experience nature in its natural environment while adding in technology to their learning.

I am looking for multiple fans to cool down our classroom as well as our new pet hen due to the excessive year-round heat in Hawaiʻi. Our school got new TV equipment, so I hope to get an Apple TV that can help my students and I present valuable information and data to one another. I am also looking for a few bigger chairs for my students and I to have flex seating in all areas of our classroom as we do research rotations on our STEM projects including our hen research, and engineering and building research. I also want to house a new pet hen for my classroom so that my students can work towards a common goal together of taking care of a live pet while learning STEM standards. Other classroom tools like a hole punch, laminator, and displays will help my students when creating their projects and showcasing it to one another.

My 2nd grade students appreciate any considerations given to our project of creating a new inclusive classroom environment. Mahalo for your time.
