it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Donors Choose Friends I stumbled across the most amazing STEM materials that will assist my kindergarteners to not only count but also touch and feel the numbers as they work with them. How cool is that?
SUMBLOX will provide my students with individual wooden blocks shaped as the numbers 1 -10 that have illustrated counting dots on each number, as you stack the blocks you create equations that equal the correct sum.
What I've noticed when teaching my students to count is that many need a visual, for example dots to count. Each block includes that number block's quantity in the form of dots.
For those students that are working on addition the SUMBLOX can be stacked vertically next to what the student thinks the sum is, if the 2 numbers stacked are level with the SUMBLOX sum the student knows there SUMBLOX combination is correct. Each SUMBLOX set comes with task cards for students to utilize and explore, how cool is that?
I love that these blocks are tactile, visual, and students can build all while mastering basic number skills. When this project is fulfilled, it will provide each of my 5 table groups with their own set of SUMBLOX to enjoy.
