My students need to manipulate objects, such as magnetic ten frame answer boards, number puzzles, bingo games, and word puzzles, to gain a number sense.

My Students
I teach in a Title I school. The majority of my students are from a low-income backgrounds. Every student in our school receives free breakfast and free lunch due to the overall poverty in our area. My students come from diverse educational and literacy experiences. For most of my students, my classroom provides their first educational experience.
Experiences in kindergarten provide the building blocks for a successful educational career!
Funding for tools in our school has been limited due to the impacts of Hurricane Irma. These students are eager to learn and ready to blossom into lifelong learners! I am searching to provide those tools for my students!
My Project
Kindergartners need to be able to manipulate objects in order to gain a strong number sense. They need to see number problems in many different ways in order to move from concrete thinking to abstract.
In order to be able to apply the mathematical concepts to real life math, they require rich experiences in the hands-on manipulation of objects.
They also need ample time to practice their new skills in centers with self-correcting puzzles and activities. The products that I have chosen for this project will provide the necessary tools to meet these goals! Students will be able to work in small groups or independently while I work with individual students to strengthen their number sense and mathematical thinking.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
