My Project
I serve as a Future Ready Librarian at a new Title I middle school. We have about 1200 students, ranging from sixth grade to eighth grade, with over 72% coming from low-income backgrounds. STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) projects are examples of project-based learning. STEM projects guide students in strengthening their inquiry, communication, and critical thinking skills. These activities also develops the student's creativity, collaboration and teamwork skills, confidence, innovation, motivation, perseverance, and risk-taking.
My students need access to a variety of STEM building activities (Tetris STAX and Brain Flakes).
Our newly remodeled Library includes a brand new Makerspace and we need resources for our students to utilize. To help my students complete their self-directed STEM projects, they need access to a well-stocked Makerspace.
My students love creating, building, and taking things apart, so they need a variety of STEM resources to support their project-based learning activities and lessons. They need the math puzzles to work on their logic, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. They need the brain flakes to use when constructing their creations. They need access to a variety of activities so they can explore and satisfy their curiosity about the world around them!
