This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come to kindergarten for their first learning experience. They did not have many hands-on learning opportunities before starting kindergarten. Many of my students cannot count a group of objects with one-to-one correspondence. This is a crucial foundational math skill that is the gateway to number sense, vital to success in math and life. They are so excited to become mathematicians!

Holding objects while counting will engage the brain in many areas and solidify their counting skills.

My students need many multi-sensory counting opportunities. This will help them gain the experience they lack in counting and continue to build their counting and number sense knowledge.
