Help me give my students copies of Clint Smith's collection of poetry, Counting Descent, to read in English class.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Clint Smith, an American writer, poet, and educator, describes his students in his poem, "The Art of Unlearning": "I bear witness / to their brilliance, but watch / the world try to confine them." These lines can also describe my students, ethnically diverse individuals who come from economically marginalized communities.
My Project
For this project, I am requesting copies of Clint Smith's collection of poetry, Counting Descent. In my AP English class, each day begins with a "Poem of the Day" to give exposure to poetry. I would like to use Smith's collection for a focused study, reading through the poems and discussing their themes and ideas. Students will read, annotate, and discuss these poems, comparing them to others we've read and written their own emulations. I also hope to have students reach out to Clint Smith and share their thoughts on a poem or verse - a benefit to teaching living poets.
Far too often, students' exposure to poetry is limited to white poets from bygone eras.
To help my students discover that poetry is for all and can be a means of coping with life, reading diverse poems from contemporary poets becomes essential.
