This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a Title I school, which is considered highest poverty, our students are in need of many tools to help them build a stronger educational and athletic foundation.

I teach a very diverse group of students from low-income backgrounds, many of whom lack the bare essentials to play on a sports team.

Our students recently petitioned to have a Flag Football team added to the list of student activities available in the school. They set up a meeting with the principal and demonstrated they have the passion to get things done when push comes to shove. Now we need your help to get this team on its feet.

My Project

During the start of the school year a group of students decided to make a presentation regarding the addition of a Flag Football team to the school. The Principal was so impressed with this student-led initiative that she approved the budget to add a team. Unfortunately that budget only includes the registration fee to play. The equipment costs are not covered.

These children worked hard to start a program in this school, but still need help to get the tools needed to help this program take off.

With your help and support, you can help these students believe that hard work does pay off in the end.

Having these flag belts will allow for our students to scrimmage, practice and demonstrate that they will be the best they can be when they play in a game. The Pylons will help to simulate a touchdown area on our make shift field, to teach the skills needed to score in the red zone. Finally, the footballs will give a us chance to learn the techniques for catching and throwing. These tools will help us go a long way to showing our school spirit on the field, as well as off the field, with your support of course.
