Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

​The requested items will transform our guidance department conference room into a soothing space for students with special education needs and those experiencing emotional distress. This room serves as the sole counseling space for group sessions. Many students with sensory issues find the bright school lights challenging. The lamps and aroma therapy light will create a welcoming environment, for those with sensory issues and especially for those in distress. Sensory toys help with focus, relieve stress and anxiety. We host weekly therapy groups to support students' coping skills, social interactions, and emotional well-being. We currently have a Cope with Crochet groups, art therapy groups and social skills counseling groups for our SPED population. Games and activities promote connection, social skills, and a positive environment for all students.
