This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Integrating art is an impactful way to support students' socials skills, emotive connections, and creative expression. Creating visual art not only allows students to express their emotions, it can also be a way for them to manage their stress.
Art opens up a nonverbal form of communication for those students who have a hard time communicating their thoughts and feelings.
Many studies even suggest that drawing while talking about traumatic experiences or distressing events helps reduce children's feelings of anxiety, anger, and fear.
Having a space and the materials for students can creatively process and express what they are going through is powerful and especially helpful for students who are still in the process of learning how they feel and how they react.
I am requesting water colors, paint brushes, canvases, paint, and painting rocks so that my students can express their thoughts and feelings in a creative way.
