Our school serves 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who range from 11-14 years old. My students come with varying needs, and approximately 45% are low-income students. Their diverse cultures, needs, and experiences mean that one size does not fit all when it comes to guidance and counseling.
This school year will be different than what any of us have experienced.
Our students are starting school with higher anxiety and more unknown factors than ever. They need someone they can talk to in order to decompress when their stress level gets too high.
My Project
Everyday, I am called or sent out to various locations around my school. Whether I am doing student observations, participating in 504 and IEP meetings, completing student surveys, or doing minute meeting check-ins with our kids, I need access to many different forms, databases, and resources.
With this amount of mobility, it would be incredibly valuable for me to have the data, resources, and information I need with me to best support our students.
These tools will also prepare me for potential situations where I may have to do my counseling duties from home. As schools respond to the effects of COVID-19 on their districts, I have to be prepared to deliver my services to students even if we are not able to be in the classroom.
These products will also help me manage the social media account for the school without having to use my personal device. I will be able to create a save graphic designs we use for our school, and communicate with parents as needed through our social media channels.
More than half of students from low‑income households
