This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are kind, brave, and resilient. More than half are from immigrant or newcomer families with limited resources who rely on our school community for food, clothing, school supplies, and mental health resources.

The materials for this project will provide my students with take-home calm-down kits so that they can have activities to do at home when they feel anxious or stressed.

As a school counselor, many of my students rely on me to help them manage their feelings at school, but most don't have the tools they need at home to further support what they learn in my office.

Having their own calm-down kit at home will support students in being more independent and in self-regulating their emotions.
