My Students
I teach two, fifth grade classes of Math and Science with 23 students in each class. I have students who really struggle with basic math facts and operations to those gifted learners who need to be challenged daily.
My students are a diverse group who range in ability from the 1st to 96th percentile.
All are eager to learn and love using technology. Many do not have access to technology unless they are at school. I have discovered that using the iPads is a way for them all to be engaged, even though they are different ability levels.
My Project
My students will use the six requested iPads with storage cases in many different ways. They will use them in groups to create projects , research topics and, find answers in both Science and Math class. They will use them to practice basic math skills and science vocabulary through games and apps. I have also discovered a website where I can create my own game for any subject or skill that the students can play on their own or in a group.
Right now my class is using (sharing ) my own iPad I brought from home.
We do the best we can with one, but are very limited in the amount of time students have to use it. These iPads will have a huge impact on my students learning. Discovering information, creating projects, and practicing skills on their own will make their learning more meaningful and interesting to them.
