This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My goal for this project is to provide students with basic hygiene needs such as toothpaste, deodorant, hair ties, socks, snacks, and more. As a teacher at a Title I school, I see many students coming to school unable to take care of their basic hygiene needs. With your help, I will be able to provide a safe space for students to take what they need to meet their needs and, in return, be able to focus on learning.

The Cougar Country students are very important to all staff at the school.

They come to school eager to learn and try their best. However, if they don't have their basic needs met, their best self is not attainable. Many of the students may not have basic hygiene staples or food at home, so this project will allow them to take items they need and take them home, too.

These items will make a huge impact on student learning in every grade level. Studies have shown that when students do not have their basic needs met, they struggle academically. By meeting these needs, the students can focus on learning.
