This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a school with a creative, motivated and enthusiastic group of Transitional Kindergarten through sixth grade students. These students are on a journey of becoming life long learners and student leaders.

They come from traditionally under served and marginalized communities.

They come from vibrant, committed and engaged families who love watching their students grow and are invested in their learning.

These students are life long learners and they are going to do amazing things in this often unjust world and I am grateful to be an advocate in their journey.

My Project

Students earn Cougar Cash for following our school expectations, coming to school on time and in uniform, doing their homework and participating in class.

Data has shown that by using Positive Behavior Incentives, students improve their attendance, behavior AND academic performance.

Like all of us, student's like to be recognized for their

accomplishments. The Cougar Cash School Store will give students a chance to spend their "cash" on fun supplies to use in school or trinkets to take home. We often see that when students receive incentives for having positive behavior that behavior becomes practiced and more natural. With time, the need for extrinsic motivation becomes reduced because they are intrinsically motivated by their positive relationships with peers and adults.
