Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Teach the children well and let them lead the way," this line is from Greatest Love of All, by Michael Masser and Linda Creed. And I firmly believe what the song says. In this day and age of technology, it is vital that children have the opportunity to use technology on a regular basis. We need to teach children strong technological skills because they will, one day, lead the way in this technological age.
My students come from very diverse backgrounds.
They also have diverse ability levels. We are in a large school district that has been severely hit by budget cuts. We have very few supplies and there is definitely no money to be spent on "extras." My class is full of curious students who love to learn through hands-on lessons. They are bright and enjoy learning. They need exposure to lessons that cannot be taught using just the materials supplied by our district.
I need a class set of “Little House in the Big Woods” so that I can teach my students core lit during distance learning.
My Project
I want my students to do core lit from an actual book they can hold and in which they can turn the pages. The students will each get their own copy of Little House in the Big Woods. This will allow them to read the book while we study it as a core literature unit.
My students will get to experience the satisfaction of reading an entire chapter book while learning and addressing grade-level English Language Arts skills and standards.
My classes always love this book and I know this class will too!
