Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class is filled with fabulous 5th graders who are just waiting for the right opportunity. My school is located in a low income area and many of my students do not have the support at home that is needed for academic growth. I work very hard to make up for what they miss out on.
My students need to be able to practice the skills I am teaching them. My class has general education students and special education students. It is very difficult for some of them to copy things off the board and it wastes instructional time. Since my school does not have a functioning copy machine for teacher use, it's hard to reinforce the skills I'm teaching by sending them home with worksheets that allow them to practice. In addition, I have many great activities that would be fun to do with them, but require copies. Please help me to make this a year rich in activities that promote learning.
What I need more than anything is a reliable copy machine. The one in our building is constantly broken down from being over used. I would like to obtain a copy machine that I could keep in my classroom. I would use it to make the copies that are needed to reinforce class lessons such as follow up activities and homework. It is something that I would use for not only my own class, but the other fifth grade class as well. We are a family and plan and work together.
