My second grade students are excited to learn new things and are eager to put their newly learned skills to good use. They love engaging in technology based learning but are limited with the lack of school resources. My class is an Integrated Co-Teaching class which means that 40% of my students are classified as special education students. Differentiation through technology and leveled printed materials offers an alternate learning opportunity for my students that learn a little differently or require extra support.
Everyone learns differently and my students need their chance to show what they can do.
They meet every challenge thrown at them with an inquisitive nature I have come to truly admire. I want to expand their horizons and provide classwork that will make them feel successful.
My Project
Our classroom has students with many ability levels. 40% of our class are special education students. For this reason, we need to differentiate instruction for each lesson. This often requires worksheets, activities, graphic organizers, etc. at various levels. A copier in our classroom would facilitate this process and ensure that every kid is getting the materials they need to succeed. In addition, this copier also has printing capabilities that would be useful to our class. Our students will be starting a research project shortly and the ability to print materials would enhance their learning and allow them to use additional sources.
