This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a kindergarten teacher in the Bronx. Because the budget is small and shrinking, teachers cannot make enough copies on the copy machine. There is one copier that all of us teachers share and for which we pay an annual fee out of our pockets, but still have to provide our own copy paper.
Since I teach kindergarten students, many times I need to make more copies than I have students, because they are new at everything and tend to make more mistakes –they need to know that they are allowed to make mistakes and it is the process of learning. Just copying two page daily homework packets for all of my students adds up to over 200 sheets of copy paper. This means that every week I run through one-half ream of paper providing homework alone. I also copy worksheets for them to use during lessons in the classroom.
I would love to provide the best activity sheets for in-classroom use as well as prepare homework packets from which students will extend their knowledge from school to home. Without your help it is nearly impossible. About 20 packs of copy paper (500 sheets each pack) will supply the kindergartners with homework and in-class activity sheets for the major part of this school year.
Students need copy paper and I am asking for your help. On behalf of my exceptional kindergartner students, I thank you for your consideration.
