This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"You have 10 minutes left to get class" I say. There are only reference books available to use for research papers. Students can not take the book out and the library does not have a copy machine.
Our students come from three Title 1 schools that combined make up an extraordinary Educational Complex in the South Bronx.
One of these schools is an expeditionary learning school. All students are preparing for college. Our students all come from proud families that work hard for low wages. Many of these students do not have the time to use the public library because of multiple obligations. They rely on the school's library to give them access to resources otherwise unavailable.
My Project
The library is an important resource in preparing our students for college. Having a copy machine will allow our students to duplicate reference materials that cannot be removed from the library. Due to budget restraints and the loss of our previous capital we are unable to buy numerous copies of books to make accessible for checkout. Our students have minimal access to computers and Internet outside of school, therefore getting the information needed for their educational success is nearly impossible. Your donation will go in long way in assisting our students to be successful.
A copier is a vital resource in a library.
It will impact over 1200 students directly and immediately. Please assist in our students achieving their success through this small resource.
