Copy Machine for Harlem's Newest Speech and Debate Team

My students need a copy machine and printer so that they can complete their research and preparation for Speech & Debate Tournaments.

This project is fully funded

Two years ago, I started a high school debate team at the high-needs, inner-city public school where I teach. My debaters have worked incredibly hard to catch up with the more fortunate schools in our competitive league (mostly private schools and specialized public high schools.) Three of them even qualified for the State Championship last year! My principal was so pleased with our success that he's letting me start a Debate Elective this year for advanced juniors and seniors who are interested.

Unfortunately, as supportive as he is, my principal doesn't even have the money to give us a room to practice in (we were in the kitchen last year), paper (I've bought my own copy paper for a year now), or to even pay me at tournaments.

Since we are still a fledgling team, there are a lot of materials that we need, and, since I don't have the budget to buy books, a copy machine would enable me to copy pieces for the speechies and relevant research material for the debaters. This would also enable me to better equip them with the research and writing skills that they will need in college.

My students accomplished amazing things with very little in the last two years. We have so much momentum at my school right now (over 100 kids came for the First Teacher vs. Student Debate-Off in June! The library was standing room only!) - all we need is your help and I know that my kids will achieve great things!
